Jan Dewilde (translation: Joris Duytschaever)

In his native city Sint-Niklaas Albert Hansen took piano classes with Gustaaf Van Wassenhoven. Subsequently he graduated at the Royal Conservatory in Ghent in five fields. From 1903 on he performed as a concert pianist in Belgium and Holland. This resulted in an appointment as head teacher of the piano classes at the 'Maatschappij tot bevordering der toonkunst' (Society for the advancement of music) in Rotterdam. From 1920 on he was also affiliated with the Royal Flemish Conservatory at Antwerp. Among Hansen's compositions we find Boschgod (Sylvan Deity), for oboe and orchestra, the oratorio Lam Gods (The Lamb of God), religious music, and songs.
