Biografie
Jan Dewilde (translation: Jo Sneppe)
Gustaaf Van Hulse had a function of many years' standing as sexton-organist and choirmaster at the dean's church of Sint-Niklaas. In this capacity he composed church music, such as the Missa Tota pulchra es Maria and the Missa in honorem sancti Antonii. Furthermore he also composed motets and sacred songs.
Van Hulse published in Musica Sacra, the periodical of the interdiocesan institute for church music (the Lemmens Institute) in Mechelen. He was the father of the well-known organist and composer Camil Van Hulse.
